Swedish massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage can help reduce pain and joint stiffness.

Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology, as opposed to energy work on meridians in Asian massage systems. Most people get a 60-minute Swedish massage, but a 90-minute session gives the therapist more time to work the muscle tissue and achieve results.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscles and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. This massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes.

Hot stone massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.
